Pick up and Drop off - Traffic Flow

The image to the left is our parking lot flow for drop-off and pick up. There are two lanes across the front - one for waiting and loading cars and one to go around them.

Please do NOT park in the main parking lot as part of drop-off or pick-up. You are welcome to use the street parking and wait for your student there.

We ask that students not walk through traffic or cross traffic except at marked crosswalks and the city sidewalk.

Visiting parents are asked to park along the alley in our visitor spaces to prevent parking in teacher and community parking spaces.

Please be mindful of speed and visibility to protect students.

Howard Street has its own food service program.

We believe that good nutrition and healthy school meals is an important part of learning.

Thanks to a partnership with Ordo and Portland Catering Company, HSCS serves breakfast and lunch every day. Our meals are prepared daily using wholesome and more local ingredients. Entrees are never frozen and fresh fruits and vegetables come with each meal.

  • If your student is absent, call the office at 503-399-3408 or email office@howardstreet.org with the reason.

  • Doors open at 7:15am but classes begin at 8:15am. School ends at 3:30pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and 1pm on Wed.

  • All HSCS Google accounts are monitored and tracked 24/7 regardless of device or location.

  • Enrichment Academy is our after school program. It runs Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri until 5pm and on Wed goes until 3:30pm. Students must sign up to participate.

  • Like all Oregon schools, we are required to do interim testing (SB 141) and state summative testing.
