Attendance

Howard Street Charter School is a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3). Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Donations are used to directly support student programs - specifically Enrichment Academy clubs/activites, technology upgrades and field trips. 100% of donations go to the school (no fees thanks to Zeffy).

Attend events

Be involved by attending school and community events.

  • Keep up to date on school happenings via Class Dojo.

  • Attend concerts, plays, dance performances and all school exhibitions to support your student. Being present in body and mind builds community and connections.

  • Come to Parent Club (3rd Thursday most months - 6pm).

  • Come to student-led conferences and exit conferences to see your student in action.

We raise funds to help students in a variety of ways.

  • Use Howard Street stickered Blue Bags to collect bottles and cans for Bottle Drop. Pick up your bags in the office and donate by bringing us the bags or take in yourself.

  • Eat at a local restaurant during our regular restaurant takeovers (organized by Parent Club)

  • Bid on baskets at our annual basket raffle at the 8th grade musical (online bids)

  • Use employee match to donate directly via your work

Give feedback

The best way to help is to have your student attend school every day. Please plan family vacations and events on our many days off. Try to get appointments on Wednesday afternoons or after school.

All schools in Oregon are directly funded by attendance rates but Howard Street has the additional element of receiving 95% of traditional middle school funding and we are a single school that cannot absorb costs like a school district.

Have your student come to school every day to learn and help our school funding.

Help us improve by giving feedback through parent surveys, Parent Club, or sending us a message. We teach the warm/cool/wondering format to students.
