About Us
Howard Street Charter School is a small middle school serving 162 students grades 6-8 throughout the Salem-Keizer area.
Our Curriculum is based on the 3Es: Einstein (science, technology, engineering and math), Ellington (the fine and performing arts) and Esperanza (the Humanities and Spanish).
We stress proficiency, performance and project-based learning at all levels.
Bit of Broadway is May 31.
Our all school arts celebration is May 31 at 7pm. Celebrate band, orchestra, dance, and drama by attending. We are asking for a $5 a family donation to support the 8th grade trip to Breakaway. Celebrate the Ellington E of Howard Street!
the Starry Night dance is Friday.
The last dance of the year is May 24 at 7pm to 9pm. Entrance fee is $5 and middle school guests are welcome with notes turned in to the office by May 23. 6th graders bring cups/drinks, 7th graders bring sweets, and 8th graders bring salty. There is no dress theme except to follow the school dress code.
Spring Dress Code reminder
Like all schools, Howard Street does have a dress code and as the weather warms up, we want to remind families of our expectations. Please dress modestly for an academic setting. This means longer skirts and shorts (at least mid thigh), no mid-riffs, and no spaghetti straps. Tank tops will need wide shoulder straps and modest necklines. We do not wear hats, bandannas, or sunglasses indoors as usual.
Bit of Broadway is May 31st.
Our all-school arts celebration is May 31 at 7pm in the Rose Auditorium. More info soon!
