Howard Street Supply List for 2008-2009

Einstein, Ellington and Esperanto

Students, please bring the following materials with you on your first class day in August:

  • Please follow the list carefully - do not substitute items. This list was developed to help you be organized and successful at Howard Street.

  • Required materials that must be purchase at the Howard Street office in August:

    1. Howard Street student planner : $4
    2. Paper to be used for computer copying $2 or one ream of copy paper.

  • Required materials that can be purchased at the store of your choice:
    1. All 6th and 7th graders are required to purchase a binder substitute organizer; these are highly recommended for 8th graders as well. The expanding or accordion files are used instead of a binder; Some have handles and can be found at Bi-Mart, Walmart, Fred Myers, office supplies stores or online sites. Examples: *Oxford® Portafile™ Letter/Legal Expanding Organizer and the *Mead Five Star DuraFiler. They can be any color but should have eight pockets at the minimum. Cost: from $9 to $16.
    2. Package of college ruled notebook paper
    3. 7 Separate Spiral Notebooks (70 or 100 pages each - please do NOT get multiple subject spirals)
    4. 1 package Graph Paper (centimeter or 1/4" scale)
    5. Pencils/Pens (blue or black ink)
    6. Pencil Eraser - Vinyl preferred
    7. 2 Highlighters - one yellow, one other color
    8. Colored Pencils - Crayola or Prismacolor preferred
    9. One package of thin colored markers
    10. 2 glue sticks
    11. Scissors
    12. Ruler with metric scale
    13. Roll of Paper Towels or Box of Tissues (bring to office)
    14. CDRW, or Flash drive
    15. Zippered-type pencil/pen pouch
    16. Will be required after school starts: book covers - material or paper.
  • Optional:

    1. Combination Pocket Dictionary & Thesaurus or One Pocket Dictionary and One Thesaurus
    2. Spanish/English Dictionary (U of Chicago preferred)
    3. Locker organizers

Please do not bring Sharpies or permanent markers to school.

All electronic gear must be left in student locker, including cell phones, head phones and MP3-type players.

Scholarships are always available to our students. Please just let us know in the office!
